Geoff Pugh Appointed as Consortiq’s UK General Manager

Consortiq is excited to welcome Geoff Pugh, who joined the company’s expanding team as General Manager for the UK this January.

Geoff arrives at an exciting and crucial time for the company as it seeks to deploy and expand its CQNet unmanned mission planning and safety management system, while at the same time continuing to deliver world class training, consultancy and hardware solutions.

“I’m delighted to be joining such a forward-looking and dynamic company,” Geoff says. “I share Consortiq’s passion for the future of unmanned aviation solutions, and can’t wait to get to work to achieve its mission to make it easier for organisations to get drones into the sky in a more safe and efficient way.”

Geoff recently retired from the Royal Navy after more than 16 years working in aviation and 14 in air traffic management. Most recently as Deputy Senior Air Traffic Control Officer at RNAS Yeovilton, Geoff spent his career in a wide variety of safety and regulatory roles, and brings to Consortiq a wealth of aviation experience and leadership ability.

“I started my aviation career as a pilot with flying scholarships and a PPL. After university and a brief time in industry, I joined the Royal Navy where my interests led me into air traffic management, and I’ve been fortunate since then to experience a wide range of opportunities from operating jets on board aircraft carriers to controlling at one of the busiest and demanding airfields in the world at Camp Bastion, Afghanistan.”

Geoff is also a qualified air traffic control instructor, and served as a military area radar controller at NATS Swanwick. More recently he was seconded to the UK’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) as an airspace regulator, where he was responsible for UAS, danger areas, and airspace utilisation.

It was while at the CAA that Geoff met Paul Rigby, Consortiq’s CEO, to discuss airspace permissions to fly a drone in central London as part of a Hollywood movie shoot: “I knew I was speaking to someone who shared my passion for the future of unmanned aviation,” says Geoff, “but crucially, he was already busy making it happen. I knew fairly quickly I wanted to be part of that in some way.”

Geoff joins the team at their Whiteley offices in Fareham, UK. See his full bio here.
